The fight is over and Manny Paquiao won by DECISION. It was a very tough fight with Manny on the brink of losing his welterweight title. The judges had the last say in this fight and they declared Manny is the winner but critics are saying that there will be a massive investigation to be done with the judges' decision.
There was a round of booes that filled the MGM stadium when the decision was announced. The crowd went berserk and threw cans and bottles to the ringside. Marquez thought he won the fight even raised his hands as a gesture of a winner. As rumors has it, Marquez's coach told him he won the fight that's why he raised his hands. Marquez then commented he was robbed. Although Marquez was really shining in this fight with punches here and there, he was seen with his backward steps all throughout the fight.
Marquez is without a doubt a tough fighter and almost defeated Pacquiao whith his brilliant counterpunches and undercuts. He is really determined to grab pacquiao's crown to make a history and it was indeed almost a historic fight. Tonights encounter was the third close fight between these two great fighters, though this one was fought at 144 pounds instead of 125 as was their first fight seven years ago. That fight was a draw, while Pacquiao won a split decision in the second bout in 2008 at 130 pounds.
"I got robbed," Marquez said. "I don't know what else I can do to win." “Maybe I will retire,” “It is difficult after this. I also don’t want to throw away everything we have worked for but I just don’t know.”
Pacquiao earned a minimum $22 million for the fight, while Marquez got $5 million
There might be a call for a re-match since the fight was really close. The controversial decision of Paquiao's victory provokes the possibility of a re-match and is predicted to ensure that Pacquiao-Marquez IV would attract huge attention.
Judges' Decisions :
Judge Robert Hoyle scoring it 114-114 / Glenn Trowbridge and Dave Moretti 116-112 and 115-113
Marquez felt cheated..... quote :
“It is a robbery and of the two robberies I have had against him, this one is the more terrible,” Marquez said in his locker room moments after storming from the ring in anger. “I was the one with the clearer punches and I won again. The audience protested because they knew that I won again. It is difficult to fight against a fighter and two judges as well.”
What do you think about the fight????
